Applications open for BioCreate Program

Ontario Genomics’ BioCreate program is open to small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in southern Ontario seeking to commercialize genomics and engineering biology enabled products and/or technologies in the health, food and agriculture, and cleantech sectors who have achieved a Technology Readiness Level (TRL) of 4+. BioCreate will provide funding, access to mentorship, and business support to enable companies to raise additional financing to achieve commercial outcomes.

Deadline to submit intake form to be considered for Cohort 6/7 is July 31.

PHSA Supply Chain Innovation Intake program

The PHSA Supply Chain Innovation Intake program helps adopt innovations that address healthcare needs in British Columbia. PHSA Supply Chain collaborates with health authority leads in its Value Analysis Teams (VATs) to match solutions with real-world challenges. They are looking for innovations that:

• Enhance patient outcomes

• Reduce healthcare costs

• Improve clinical efficiency

• Promote environmental sustainability

• Support Indigenous economic reconciliation

VentureConnect Grant Applications Are Open for the July Round

The BioHubNet EQUIP VentureConnect Grant is now accepting applications for its July round – offering up to $5,000 to help trainee-entrepreneurs attend industry/investor conferences and pitch competitions. This grant supports early-stage innovators by funding key opportunities to pitch, network, and connect directly with investors and VCs – helping accelerate your venture’s growth.

Application deadline for this round is July 28.

Genomic Applications Partnership Program (GAPP) – 2025

As part of the Canadian Genomics Strategy (CGS), the Genomic Applications Partnership Program (GAPP) supports Canadian for-profit enterprises looking to commercialize their idea or research by:

• Increasing Canadian private-sector investment in the commercialization of innovation derived from public R&D funding in genomics and biotechnology.

• Stimulating technological innovation and implementation through co-operative R&D between research and receptors.

• Enabling research investments that de-risk opportunities and secure follow-on funding from finance and industry.

• Fostering and encouraging participation in innovation and entrepreneurship by individuals from equity-deserving communities.

Deadline to apply is Thursday, July 24.

SCI ADOPT 2025 Request for Proposals

Praxis is a Vancouver-based research institute leading global collaboration in spinal cord injury (SCI) research, innovation and care. Praxis accelerates the translation of discoveries and best practices into improved treatments for people living with SCI. SCI Adopt funds the costs of early clinical adoption of newly approved (or equivalent) health technologies by Health Canada. SCI Adopt offers up to $100,000 in funding to support technology adoption projects/pilots and evidence generation activities.

The RFP is intended to support the adoption of health technology that is market-ready, has commercial viability, and demonstrates improved health outcomes for people with SCI. The health technology must have received Health Canada approval or equivalent. Proposals that support the adoption of health technologies that have received Health Canada approval, or equivalent, to enter the Canadian market within the past 5 years (since January 1, 2020) will be given priority.

Deadline for proposals: July 27.

2025 AGE-WELL National Impact Challenge

Is your innovation ready for real-world implementation in a setting that serves older adults? Have you partnered with an organization interested in integrating your solution to improve the health, quality of life, or work for older adults or caregivers—or are you selling directly to older adults, with a strong plan for adoption?

The AGE-WELL National Impact Challenge is back in 2025! One of the country’s most exciting start-up competitions, this event recognizes Canadian startups and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) improving the lives of older adults and caregivers. Applicants will submit an online application and an engaging 2-minute video pitch. Selected finalists will be invited to take the stage at AGE-WELL’s 10th Annual Conference, pitching live to a panel of expert judges.

The next intake period will open on September 1, 2025.

Innovators from Canadian organizations may access up to $75,000 in funding to assist with research and development (R&D) for a single technology. We cover up to 75% of costs to pursue and sign collaborative R&D agreements with international partners.
