Health Science Technology Training for Software and Data Professionals
As Canada accelerates the commercialization and adoption of digital technologies into the fast-growing health science industry, there is a critical need to create high-value technology jobs and support the development of talent in the technology workforce.
OBIO® is proud to partner with Upskill Canada [powered by Palette Skills] and the Government of Canada to deliver the second cohort of its national Health Science Technology Training for Software and Data Professionals training program. The program will provide focused, digital technology development upskilling to help fast-growing companies access the talent they need to thrive and prosper, while creating new career paths for workers to quickly transition into high-demand roles.
The program runs from June 3 to September 6, 2024 (14 weeks):
Part I – Core Training Course (Weeks 1 & 2)
Dates: June 3 - 14, 2024Time: 9 am – 1 pm daily
Format: Virtual
Part II – Job placement support (Weeks 3 to 14). Format: Hybrid

Support health science employers developing digital technologies across Canada to better address their talent needs
Upskill mid-career Canadians, including those from equity-deserving groups, and help them connect with new work opportunities in the rapidly growing health science sector
Deliver a 14-week demand-driven, employer-led, rapid upskilling and potential-focused training program
Drive lasting improvements to the upskilling ecosystem by building close collaborations across training providers, employers and other partners
Design and deliver upskilling programs to shift mindsets around talent development and utilization

In partnership with BioTalent Canada, employers hiring or training talent from this upskilling program can access the Digital Skills for Youth wage subsidy, which offers up to $24,000 to support your team’s growth and advance digital innovations in the health science industry.
Basic eligibility for employers:
• Must be a bio-economy Canadian employer providing minimum 3-month internships with skills development training
• Must be a small to medium sized organization with under 500 employees
• Must not be using existing federal grant resources to cover the wages of candidates supported by the program
• Candidates supported by the program must be on the payroll of the employer for the duration of the internship
• Candidates supported by the program must be between the ages of 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the internship, legally entitles to work in Canada, Canadian citizens, permanent residents or hold refugee status
